H10 Montcada, Barcelona

Stayed here for four nights and this was a good hotel for exploring Barcelona. Nearly all positives but with a couple of small niggles in the room. Firstly, the staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful, especially the team working the breakfast room. Reception were always responsive to questions and requests and booked our open top tourist bus tickets for us making sure we got the concession rate. Knowing that the hotel is on a busy street I had requested a quiet room with a double bed by email before hand and we were allocated a back room on the 7th floor on arrival which certainly met the brief for being quiet, especially at night. We didnt get the double bed as it was the usual two single beds connected, but we could live with that for four nights. The room was spacious with plenty of storage and a well-equipped bathroom and very nice toiletries, and the daily room service was very efficient. The niggles however were with the room in that the aircon is not very effective and although it was just about good enough if we kept the blackout curtains shut during the day when we were out, I wonder what it would be like in the height of summer. And the bottom seal of our shower screen had gone meaning water leaked from the shower onto the bathroom floor. We did mention this to reception on the first day and maintenance clearly fiddled with it but didnt fix it as the whole seal needed replacing. We negated the problem with some well-placed towels, but this did make a bit of a mockery about the request to reuse towels to save the planet. Fortunately, the rest of the experience was very positive. The breakfast service was very good indeed. Very friendly and chirpy staff here, an extensive range of breakfast options that were frequently replenished and the daily croissants and orange juice provided to the table were a very nice touch indeed. And for us the location of the hotel was perfect. We like to explore on foot and its only a 10-minute walk to the beach and sea front (best done through the Barceloneta district for seeing the real Barcelona) and the backstreets of the Gothic quarter are fantastic for its independent shops tapas bars and restaurants. And then the nearest Underground station is virtually outside the hotel and its only a ten-minute walk to Plaa de Catalunya for the start of the tourist busses when we wanted to explore further afield. So the key question is would I stay here again and the answer is a resounding yes, despite the couple of small niggles.

Couldnt ask for a more perfect hotel or location for your Barcelona stay! We had a gorgeous view from our room and could hear the church bells all over Barcelona on Easter. There is a metro stop directly across the street (very easy to navigate, by the way), and you can walk to the Gothic Quarter, the Picasso Museum, the Boqueria Market and stroll down Las Ramblas to the harbor. We could see all the way to the water from our room. Although our room faced a busy street, with the windows closed it was silent! There is a rooftop bar with a great view as well, and a bar in the lobby. Breakfast is plentiful and excellent. Theres surely something for every palette. We were greeted with an offer of water, sparkling water or Cava by the very welcoming front desk staff. They were also helpful ordering a taxi the night before our very early flight home. Room was not large (typical for Europe) but well-appointed with a coffee machine and free water, as well as $$ mini bar. There were robes and slippers. Lots of towels! This is really a great place to stay in Barcelona.

We loved this hotel. The location was central and easy walking distance to the sights. Every member of staff was extremely helpful and kind. The hotel is spotlessly clean, lovely comfortable rooms. The breakfast is amazing. So much choice and I had plenty of gluten free options. I would definitely recommend.

This hotel is perfectly situated close to the sights and action of the gothic area of the city. We also had a long morning walk to and from the port area and up to Montjuic Castle. The beds were super uncomfortable and hard and the lift was small and slow but the hotel itself was clean and comfortable. The rooftop jacuzzi and bar closed early which we weren’t aware of before heading up so that was disappointing. On a sunny day though I expect it would be lovely with the view and seating around. Free wifi was rather slow but still appreciated having that access.
